Career before being justice of the Supreme Court:
Justice of the Supreme Court of Justice since November 25th 2011.
Born on May 18th 1951, in Idanha-a-Nova, he was graduated by the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, where he worked as assistant professor.
He was judge of first instance in the judicial districts of Oliveira de Frades, Condeixa-a-Nova, Évora, Leiria and Coimbra.
He became member of the High Council of the Judiciary between 1998 and 2000.
He was judge, Vice-President and President of the Court of Appeal of Coimbra from 2006 to 2011, when he was appointed justice of the Supreme Court of Justice.
He was also Vice-President of the High Council of the Judiciary from April 2013 until May 2016.
He took office as President of the Supreme Court of Justice in October 4th 2018.
